Jazz Night was the final for Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Lab.
All other classes are performing all or part of their chamber music pieces in a recital format during class.

Jazz Night
Our Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Lab will be presenting several great jazz charts on Thursday, January 19th. The concert will start at 7pm in the Cleveland HS auditorium.
Evening Rehearsals
Jazz Ensemble will have an evening rehearsal on Tuesday, Nov. 29th from 6:30–8:00 pm with a guest clinician Eve Reh in our preparation for the Jazz Contest on Thursday.
Wind Symphony (including Wind Symphony percussionists) will have an evening rehearsal on Thursday, Dec 1 from 6:30-8:00 pm in preparation for our concert the following week.
PIL Jazz Contest
PIL Jazz contest will be at Roosevelt HS on Thursday, December 1st. The top band will receive an automatic birth into the State Jazz Championships in April of 2023.

Jazz Ensemble Tour
The Jazz Ensemble will be touring Sellwood and Hosford middle schools along with a theater and choir group to promote our outstanding performing arts department at Cleveland HS on Wednesday, October 26th.

This is far from an exhaustive list, remember you’re not required to choose from this list. It’s just a list of youtube (or spotify) links that I’m sure will continue to grow, containing some great (and playable!) solos by master jazz improvisers on a variety of instruments. If you hear one you like, look to acquire a copy of the track in mp3 format so you can begin your own transcription.
