Join us in the auditorium at 7pm on Thursday, January 18th for our Winter Jazz Night. Admission is free. The Jazz Ensemble will be putting the final touches on the set they’ll perform at the upcoming PIL Jazz Contest. We’ll also hear from the Jazz Lab and an assortment of combos.
LA Trip registrations will still be accepted, although the deadline has passed. The window will close soon, but we know there have been a few families on the fence.
This will be an experience your student will never forget! The bonds your student will form will benefit them and the program for the rest of their high school days and beyond.
If you’re one of those families on the fence, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Mr. Riler: griler@pps.net
As if the last few months haven’t been dynamic enough, we’re now heading into the Pep Band and Festival seasons. Please keep an eye on the calendar as it has required several updates over the last month.
Join us in the band room tonight at 6:30pm. Topics to include a director’s report from Mr. Riler, a debrief of the December events, a look ahead to January’s events and more!
The Future Warrior Concert is Wednesday, January 10th at 7:00 pm. Performances by: Concert Band and Jazz Ensemble, as well as Sellwood and Hosford bands. All of the students will combine for one large pep band and play a couple rousing charts to close out the night.
With the addition of a combined number at the end, **Concert Band and Jazz Ensemble members must arrive by 6:00pm in all-black concert attire** for a short rehearsal with the Sellwood and Hosford bands.
Please help us capture this event with photos and video! You can upload them to our photo album or share them with us and we’ll get them uploaded.
We lost precious rehearsal time with the addition of a school day on Friday, January 26th, so we are trying to make up some of that time with a required sectional on 1/10 from 6-8pm

Keeping up with CHS Bands’ many events is no easy task, but many hands make light work! With so many groups performing over the coming months, please capture photos and video and upload them to our Google Album (or send them and we’ll upload).
It’s thrilling to see all the good times and great things the CHS Bands do throughout the year!
Pep Band starts up on the first day of school after Winter Break. Each student has been assigned to either the Green or Gold Pep Bands (see band assignments here).
Students are welcome to perform at all games, but they must perform at the games their assigned pep band is scheduled to cover (see assigned games here) or work to find a replacement player on the same instrument.
