Band Holiday Party

The band leadership is planning a Holiday Party for all band members on Saturday, December 14th from 10am-noon in the band room. There will be a modified Elephant Gift exchange ($15 limit).  Re-gifting an old gift from your basement or garage is always an option. There will also be a potluck (breakfast themed). Students should work with leadership to coordinate attendance and what they will bring for the potluck.

The National Band Association awards Cleveland HS Band

Last week the National Band Association bestowed the Program of Excellence Blue Ribbon Award to the Cleveland HS Bands. Our band was one of 10 high school bands in the nation that were recognized for this level of accomplishment.

The NBA Programs of Excellence initiative recognizes quality programs at all levels. Those programs and educators which challenge students and promote standards of excellence will be honored nationally through this initiative.

This award will be presented at a concert sometime in the future this school year.

Congratulations to all of the students that have passed through this program the last five years.  Recordings, concert programs, literature performance lists and achievements from the last three to five years of this program were requested by the NBA in determining if our program was worthy of this award.

It has been (and continues to be) an honor to work with all of the amazing students and families at Cleveland HS!

Help Needed for Pie Distribution Wednesday, November 13th.

Pies for the Fall Pie Fundraiser will be distributed on Wednesday, November 13th, in the school cafeteria. We need some volunteers to help with the distribution.

If you can help between 2:30 pm and 4:30 pm on November 13th, please sign up on Sign Up Genius. Thank you so much!

If you purchased pies, please be prepared to pick them up on the 13th between 3:30 pm and 4:30 pm. We won’t be able to store the frozen pies!

FOCB Board Meeting November 18th

The next FOCB board meeting will be Monday, November 18th at 6:30 pm. We are deviating from the regular 1st Monday of the month due to school closures.

If you’re interested in getting involved with us and help support our band program, this meeting is the perfect opportunity to get plugged in! The back entrance to the school near the band room will be open just before 6:30 pm.

WIBC Honor Band Placements

We had 30 brave students audition for the WIBC Honor Band (Western International Band Clinic), with 2 being considered as alternates and 22 being placed in bands.

They will rehearse with students from November 22-25 with a concert on the 25th. They will also participate in leadership workshops and attend concerts throughout the weekend.

These students continue the proud tradition of excellence in the Cleveland HS band program. We are all very proud of the 30 students that worked so hard to prepare for their auditions!!

OSU Homecoming Concert w/Cleveland HS

A great day for our Wind Ensemble on Friday.

We had the opportunity to take some time and rehearse on this stage in the afternoon before taking a short tour of the OSU campus.

The ensemble performed admirably and represented PPS and Cleveland HS with class. They prepared this music in 3 weeks, after performing another set of music on September 27 at our annual Playathon.

The Wind Ensemble has proven to be a fabulous group preparing this first performance in 2 weeks. (4 rehearsals). The OSUMB Spirit and Sound was an absolute blast (literally…we all were issued ear plugs).
