The next FOCB board meeting will be Monday, January 6th at 6:30 pm.

If you’re interested in getting involved with us and help support our band program, this meeting is the perfect opportunity to get plugged in! Someone will be at the back entrance gate on SE 28th just before 6:30 pm to let you in. Email info@clevelandbandspdx.com for more information.

Our first Jazz Night will be Thursday, January 9 at 7 pm. Jazz Lab and Jazz Ensemble will be featured. We will have a special guest sitting in with groups, as well!

This concert will feature our Concert Band, Wind Ensemble & Jazz Ensemble. The Advanced bands from Hosford and Sellwood will also perform. An fantastic celebration of the incredible work going on in the Cleveland feeder pattern! Don’t miss it.

Congratulations to the Cleveland HS Jazz Ensemble for their outstanding performance at the PIL Jazz Band Contest! They received state-qualifying scores from all three judges giving us a total of 251 points. We will be able to submit our recording from this festival for state, if we choose.

Congrats to our friends at Grant HS. Their Jazz Ensemble ended up with the most points (258) and will be the automatic qualifiers from PIL for the State Jazz Band Championships.

Our Winter Concert will be on Tuesday, December 10th at 7pm in the Cleveland Auditorium. We will feature our Percussion Ensembles, as well as all of our large groups (Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble)

There will be a bake sale before and after the concert to raise funds for the band.

This will be a wonderful celebration of the amazing work these students have been putting into their craft.

We are pleased to say our sign up for bakers and bake sale servers is full! Thank you everyone who volunteered and signed up early to fill these positions.

The band leadership is planning a Holiday Party for all band members on Saturday, December 14th from 10am-noon in the band room. There will be a modified Elephant Gift exchange ($15 limit).  Re-gifting an old gift from your basement or garage is always an option. There will also be a potluck (breakfast themed). Students should work with leadership to coordinate attendance and what they will bring for the potluck.

We had a fantastic time at WIBC this year. There were wonderful performances throughout the weekend, and the honor bands had outstanding performances on Monday.

We had a good time at Pike Street Market on Friday before checking in to WIBC.

We have two upcoming concerts in early December of which you should be aware.

PIL Jazz Band Contest
The Cleveland HS Jazz Ensemble will be performing at the PIL League High School Jazz Band Festival on Wednesday, December 4th.  This event will be at Roosevelt HS from 9:15am – 3pm.  At this event, the highest scoring Superior group will receive an automatic bid into the State Jazz Band Championships in May.

There will be a bake sale that you can all participate in. This will be a wonderful celebration of the amazing work these students have been putting into their craft.

Our Winter Concert will be on Tuesday, December 10th at 7:00 pm in the auditorium, and the Bake Sale will be happening! We need many volunteers to donate delicious goodies, and several volunteers to help serve on the front lines. The sale will take place BEFORE and AFTER the concert, so don’t worry, you won’t have to miss out on anything!
