Pep Band – 8th Grade Night

This Thursday (10/12) we’ll be hosting our feeder middle school programs for a night of fun, food, football and fight songs!  This is a great community building event for the program.  We’ll be serving pizza to the kids pregame, so note the early call time of 5:15pm.

This is also our final home game of the season.  Make sure to come out and support CHS Football and Pep Band!

Employer Donation Matching

As the dust settles from this year’s Play-a-thon, here’s a gentle reminder to investigate your employer’s matching donation program.  This can be an easy way to multiply your donation’s impact and help your company achieve their community support goals.

Thank You!

I do not believe I will ever stop being blown away by the amount of support we receive financially with this event.  I am also very thankful to all of the parents who give of their time and effort to make this event go so smoothly.  Our student leadership team did a fantastic job with the stage and tech crews making our transitions so seamless. I feel like the event itself gets better every year as we learn and tweak different things.

And what could we do without the tremendous leadership of the Friends of Cleveland Bands. The Playathon would NEVER work without this fantastic parent organization!!

I am truly humbled by the kind words I received throughout the evening and want to thank all of our band family for helping me create this wonderful community!

As we continue into this new school year, I look forward to your help in continuing to build this program into a shining example of collaboration among parents and students.  If you ask any 6A HS band director in the state, they know that something special is happening at Cleveland HS.

Musically Yours,
Gary Riler

Organ Grinder Concert

We have an amazing treat occurring in our auditorium on Saturday, October 7, 2023.

The theatre organ in our auditorium is going to come to life for two concerts to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Organ Grinder Pizza Restaurant (1973-1996).  The proceeds from the two concerts will benefit the Cleveland HS Music Department!!  A few of our band and choir students will have the opportunity to perform in these concerts.

There is a link below to purchase tickets.  Please share with family and friends.  I know I LOVED going to the Organ Grinder when I was younger.  The pizza was okay, but the organ performances were mesmerizing!

Such crowd favorites as “2001: A Space Odyssey” and “Star Wars Medley” will shake the Cleveland Auditorium along with a short clip of one of the silent movies that played, the famous kaleidoscope, bubbles from the balcony, and disco ball – all elements from the Organ Grinder’s impressive entertainment legacy.

These concerts will take place on Saturday, October 7, 2023
Two concerts (general admission):  1 pm or 4 pm.
Cost is $10 per person + ticketing fee (no refunds available)

(Purchase early as both concerts are expected to sell out)

Tickets are on sale now via:
https://organgrinder50.eventbrite.com

All-State Honor Band Auditions are DUE on Wednesday, October 4th.

Students must complete THIS FORM so I can start the registration process.

Students will then receive an upload form from me.  Once I receive their files, I will upload them to the registration and both the student and the parent the payment link to pay for the audition.  This is all accessible on the CANVAS pages, as well.

If a student is accepted, FOCB will pay the registration, and families will be asked to pay the housing fee ($140).
FOCB can provide assistance with the housing, if there is a need.
